The DOS Survival guide

"You have chosen wisely!"

(Quote of a famous knight)

Ok, it's the year 2022 and -for reasons only you know- you want to use DOS as your main operating system... what do you need?

The OS itself

Even if it would be a very honorable thing to do, you don't want to start with a 30 years old version of DOS. Yes, for something only dedicated to vintage games or a totally distraction free writing system (with no regard to the former mentioned games) it would be ok... but if you are going to do ALL your work on this system you will abandon ship faster than the proverbial rodents.

Your OS of choice would naturally be FreeDOS

It depends on which sort of computer you want to install it, but on any computer that has a chance to be usable it will probably just as easy as to download a random Linux distro, burn it to CD (or USB Stick) and get it running. If you are going down THIS particular rabbit hole i wholeheartedly trust you to get this thing going on your own
