I think many of us have this one place in time when we felt most at home. For me personally, it was the time of the late 90s to the very early 00s, after that... well, that is a story for another time. What i really wanted to talk about is this little gem of an operating system that emerged in this timeframe which still has a special place in my heart: BeOS.
I am not sure of the year, but i remember that i had gotten my hands on the current issue of the computer magazine my dad had subscribed to and had read about an OS which was centered around multimedia, which would revolutionise the IT marked and would perhaps drive Windows and MacOS out of the competition. And better yet: You could get your hands on a demo CD by sending a low amount of money to an address provided.
After some time the demo CD arrived, i inserted it into the low-spec computer i had at the time and it worked absolutely great... sure, you couldn't DO very much with the demo, but the responsiveness of the system was absolutely marvellous.
I allways wanted to buy BeOS, but being occupied with various other things
